The alkali that glass and detergents are built on
Soda ash is one of the most used industrial chemicals in the world. In glassmaking it lowers the melting point of silica; in detergents it softens water and boosts cleaning; in chemical plants it is the starting point for sodium silicate, sodium bicarbonate and many other salts.
Türkiye is a major exporter of natural soda ash made from trona, which typically carries very little chloride. That gives buyers in Türkiye short lead times by truck and gives export buyers a competitive, consistent source. We match dense or light grade to your process and quote delivered prices.

Which grade for which use
| Grade | Typical use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dense soda ash | Flat and container glass, sodium silicate, metallurgy, bulk chemical use | Bulk density ≈ 0.9–1.1 g/cm³; low dust, flows well and does not segregate in glass batch |
| Light soda ash | Detergents and cleaning products, chemicals, water treatment, textiles | Bulk density ≈ 0.5–0.65 g/cm³; dissolves fast and absorbs liquids well |
Typical values
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Na₂CO₃ (dry basis) | ≥ 99.2 % | Titration |
| Sodium chloride (NaCl) | ≤ 0.7 % (natural: often ≤ 0.1 %) | Titration |
| Iron (as Fe₂O₃) | ≤ 0.004 % | Photometric |
| Sulphate (as Na₂SO₄) | ≤ 0.05 % | Gravimetric |
| Water insolubles | ≤ 0.04 % | Gravimetric |
| Bulk density, dense / light | 0.9–1.1 / 0.5–0.65 g/cm³ | Poured density |
Typical ranges only. Natural and synthetic origins differ, mainly in chloride. We send the producer's TDS with every offer.

Frequently asked questions
Dense or light: which one do I need?
Glass makers use dense soda ash because it creates less dust and does not separate from sand in the batch. Detergent and chemical makers often prefer light soda ash because it dissolves faster and absorbs liquids well.
Where does your soda ash come from?
Mainly from Turkish producers of natural soda ash made from trona. We can also offer synthetic (Solvay process) material when a buyer's specification requires it.
What is the minimum order?
For export, one 20' container of about 25–27 MT. Buyers in Türkiye can order by the truckload. Large volumes can ship in bulk.
What payment terms do you work with?
Letter of credit at sight, or 30% advance and 70% against copy of the bill of lading. Other terms are possible after a first successful order.
Is the material KKDİK registered?
Turkish producers hold their own KKDİK registrations. For any imported origin we confirm registration or Only Representative details before quoting.
