The pigment that makes things white and opaque
Titanium dioxide gives paint its hiding power, keeps plastics bright and protects coatings from UV. Rutile grades are the standard for coatings and plastics; anatase is used where softness and blue-white tone matter, such as paper, fibres and some interior paints.
Chloride-process rutile usually gives a cleaner, bluer white and higher gloss. Sulphate-process rutile is a cost-effective choice for many decorative paints and plastics. We help you pick the grade that fits your formula and budget, then compare producers on real offers.

Which grade for which use
| Grade | Typical use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rutile, chloride process | High-gloss industrial and automotive coatings, powder coatings, premium decorative paint, plastics | Bluer, cleaner white; high gloss and durability |
| Rutile, sulphate process | Decorative interior and exterior paint, masterbatch, PVC profiles, general plastics | Good opacity at a lower cost; wide grade choice |
| Anatase | Paper, fibres, ceramics, rubber, interior paints | Softer, less abrasive; not for outdoor durability |
